Privacy policy

The short version: no ads, no selling data, your schedule stays yours, and this website sets no tracking cookies. The long version is below — still in plain language, because privacy policies you can't read aren't really policies.

Last updated: 11 August 2026 · BlockWise is pre-launch; this policy covers this website now and the app at launch, and will be updated with final company details before the app stores go live.

Who we are

BlockWise ("we", "us") is the time-blocking and accountability app published at blockwise.day. The product is operated by the BlockWise publishing company (a US entity; full registered details will appear here before store launch). For anything in this policy, contact hello@blockwise.day. Users in the UK and EU are protected by UK GDPR and EU GDPR respectively, and this policy is written to those standards for everyone, everywhere.

This website

The blockwise.day website sets no tracking cookies and runs no advertising or fingerprinting scripts. Fonts are served from our own domain, not a third party. Your theme and reading-font preferences are stored only in your own browser and never sent to us. If you press play on a tutorial video, it loads through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player at that moment — nothing loads before you choose. If we later add analytics, it will be privacy-respecting, cookie-free and EU-hosted, and this policy will say so first.

If you join the waitlist, we store your email address for one purpose: telling you about the BlockWise launch. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing deletes your address from the list.

The app — what we collect and why

When the app launches, your account holds the data the product needs to work, and nothing else:

Account: your name and email via Google sign-in or an email magic link. We never see or store a password. Your planning data: schedules, blocks, tasks, notes, templates, companies you create and icons you upload. People and interruption records: names you enter as interruption sources (see the section below). Connections: if you connect a service such as Google Calendar, we store the encrypted authorisation token and the data needed for the feature — for calendars, your events for the days you plan. Payments: subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google; we never see your card details. We receive subscription status (active, trial, cancelled) via our billing processor, RevenueCat.

The people you name

BlockWise lets you record who or what interrupted your work. These names are entered by you and may identify real people. They are private to your account: never shared between accounts, never used by us for anything, never sold, and only ever exported when you export them. They are included in your data export and permanently removed by account deletion. You are responsible for using this feature fairly — it exists to make your own records useful, not to surveil others.

What we never do

We don't show ads. We don't sell data. No personal schedule, task, company or people data ever leaves your account for any commercial purpose. We don't train AI models on your data. Connections to AI assistants exist only when you switch them on, are scoped to what you approve, and can be revoked by you at any time.

Where your data lives and who processes it

App data is hosted on Supabase (managed Postgres) with row-level security so each account can only ever reach its own rows, encrypted in transit everywhere and with authorisation tokens encrypted at rest. Our processors at launch: Supabase (database, authentication, storage), RevenueCat (subscription status), Apple and Google (billing), and error/analytics tooling hosted in the EU (Sentry, PostHog EU). Each processes data only to provide their service to us. Backups are continuous, with point-in-time recovery.

Your rights — built in, not emailed for

Export everything and delete everything are self-service buttons in the app, not support tickets. Deletion is a hard delete of your account data. You can also ask us anything, or complain to your data-protection authority (in the UK, the ICO). Your days can back up automatically to your own Obsidian vault as markdown, so you always hold your own copy of your own life.

Retention

Your data stays while your account is active. Delete your account and it is permanently removed from live systems immediately and from rolling backups as they expire. Waitlist emails are deleted on unsubscribe, and the list itself is deleted after launch marketing completes.

Children

BlockWise is a working-day tool and not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect children's data; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes, and material changes are announced in the app before they take effect. The current version always lives at blockwise.day/privacy.
